Bob Parker, as suave and debonair as we know him, is the presenter for
Times of Your Life. It's basically 'This is Your Life' on rollerblades where all the
participants in the show are on laughing gas, or worse.
A different Cantabrian is interviewed every night and his or her life
story is re-enacted by the Outwits in a manner that is as outrageous and funny
as is possible. Or that was how it seemed on Saturday night as Tiki Taane,
from the band Salmonella Dub, had his life turned into a glorious pantomime.
He took it all in very good spirits and so he should, for it is not every day
that you have your life trashed by experts and reconstituted as farce.
Bob Parker was in fine form, his voice as compelling as ever, but he is
just the straight man for the Outwits twisted humour. We have seen this
team before when they were the Court Jesters but they seemed even better under
new colours. They impressed the audience with their zany humour, but their
ability to improvise comedy on the spot, out of nothing, was quite outstanding.
It was a cool night, yet you walked out of the park with a warm glow. It
was a good sized audience which means the word is getting around that
Times of Your life is a show to see. You might need to wrap up tight, but this
production will certainly loosen you up. It's funny and it's free, rich
comedy all for nothing.
